Do you love watching movies? If so, you must necessarily visit Wroclaw this holiday! From July 26 to August 5, the 18th New Horizons International Film Festival will be held in Wrocław. It’s one of the most visited event of such type in Poland and one of the most popular in this part of Europe. The festival will be accompanied by meetings with artists, concerts, vernissages and exhibitions... If you don’t manage to visit us during the festival - nothing is lost! 18th New Horizons International Film Festival
The New Horizons IFF presents mainly arthouse cinema. This is a festival of cinema visionaries, adamant artists, brave enough to follow their own path against the trends and to talk about the most important matters, using their own, unique language. Festival will take a place in the New Horizons Cinema, which is just a few minutes walk from Patio Hotel ***. The second festival cinema will be Dolnośląskie Centrum Filmowe, located at 64 Pisłudskiego Street.
Moreover, in the Arsenal - festival music club, every day from 22.00 will be held concerts and DJ sets. Festival guests will also be able to see an interactive exhibition prepared for the 100th anniversary of the birth of one of the most important filmmakers in the history of cinema - Ingmar Bergman. The organizers also planned more additional events: film poster exhibitions and interactive projections.
During 11 days of screenings, audiences will see 225 full-length films from over 50 countries, of which three are world premieres and 147 will be shown for the first time in Poland. This year, 12 productions from around the world will compete for the Grand Prix. Among the main festival sections, fans of X Muse will be able to see Iranian cinema, Girlhood section - films about girls and made by girls, cinema movies from Norway and Iceland, retrospectives of Pedro Costa, João César Monteiro, Nicolas Roeg and Ingmar Bergman and... many, many more! Summer time is conducive to watching cinema hits in the open air! For those who plan to visit Wrocław in the end of July and in August, we strongly recommend the film projects "under the clouds"!
A summer cinema on comfortable subeds awaits every Friday and on Saturday at Słodowa Island, less than 10 minutes walk from the Patio Hotel. The entrance is free! We also recommend to visit the beautifully renovated Renoma shopping center to watch films inspired by European cities, that will be displayed on the roof, with a spectacular view of the illuminated Wrocław. The screenings takes place every Saturday of August, from 21.00. Every Friday at 21.30 p.m. film projections in the open air will take also place in the History Center "Zajezdnia" depot at Grabiszyńska Street.
